Thirty years ago, almost all of the high-rise residential buildings in North Texas were clustered along Dallas’ Turtle Creek.
Residential towers were few and far between in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – the kind of housing you’d expect in New York or San Francisco.
With almost a dozen high-rise residential buildings on the way, more local residents are opting for this lofty slice of the housing market.
High-rise apartment projects now stretch all the way from downtown Dallas to Frisco.
The newest project involves a winning team of players. Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones is teaming up with former star players Roger Staubach and Robert Shaw to build a 17-story apartment tower at The Star in Frisco mixed-use project.
The planned luxury rental project will have between 150 and 160 units.
Just south of the Star in Legacy business park, two apartment towers are already under construction.
The29-story LVL 29 toweris being built in the $3 billion Legacy West. The $100 million project will have 328 apartments.
On the other side of the tollway near Legacy Drive, High Street Residential is building the 25-floor Residences at Legacy apartment project. It's next door to the Shops at Legacy retail and restaurant complex.
The biggest concentration of high-rise buildings is still in Dallas.
This week developers opened the doors on the 25-story Victory Place apartment tower on the northwest corner of downtown Dallas.
The 352-unit high-rise rental project on Houston Street is one of four residential towers opening up this year in Victory Park.
The new Victory Park projects will have more than 1,000 deluxe rental units.
